Studio Zink was originally founded in 2013. Founder and designer of Studio Zink, Paul Schilperoord, studied Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design in the Netherlands followed by a Masters Program of Industrial Design in Florence, Italy. From the start, Studio Zink has worked closely with the international coffee community. In 2012, Paul Schilperoord first started working with La Marzocco, Italian manufacturer of artisan espresso machines. He realized the eye-catching design of the La Marzocco Leva, a re-invention of the iconic lever espresso machine, as well as a series of customized La Marzocco espresso machines for Studio Zink.
Next to his design work, Paul Schilperoord is an internationally published writer specializing in technological innovation. His book publications include Future tech – innovations in transportation (Black Dog Publishing, London 2006) and The extraordinary life of Josef Ganz – the Jewish engineer behind Hitler’s Volkswagen (RVP Publishers, New York 2012).
